it makes me really uncomfortable when white men call each other “brother”

It makes me uncomfortable when you think that calling someone brother is racially exclusive

last thing i want is a bunch of white dudes in a brotherhood. we’ve seen what happens when y’all get together and i’m not having it.

what you got against pro wrestlers?

I think I just like listening to people talk.

The Giver (2014) - A Review

marredbyoverlength:

Dir. Phillip Noyce.

Starring Brenton Thwaites, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep.

The latest float in the film-adaptation-of-young-adult-dystopian-fiction-novel parade is exactly what you’d expect.  We’ve seen this before; in fact, we’ve seen it at least once already this year and we’ll see it again before the year ends.  What sets The Giver apart from the rest of the genre is that its source material is significantly older and more respected than, say, those of Divergent or The Hunger Games, but that difference does not translate to the film, which instead is utterly un-groundbreaking, un-thought-provoking, and unremarkable.

honestly I could care less if the mona lisa got destroyed or stolen.  just honestly do not care about it at all.  not a big deal in my life right now

The phrase is actually “I couldn’t care less”

I couldnt care less about what you just added to my mona lisa post

"I could care less" is the proper phrase.  It’s deliberately facetious.  Also, parsing idioms is what pedants do.

If it’s true that the phrase is deliberately facetious, I think that fact has been forgotten over time. In my experience, most people who say “I could(n’t) care less” are being entirely sincere - they’re just using a phrase they know means “I don’t care”.

i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again:

the big bang theory is not a smart comedy. it relies on cliches and stereotypes that are offensive to everyone they reflect. there is little to no originality in any storyline or relationship.

the funniest thing about this show is that people compare it to 30 rock, parks and rec, louie, veep, etc

there is a difference between a smart show and a show that happens to have nerds on it.

What, exactly, is offensive about Big Bang Theory? Unfunny, maybe. But offfensive?

I think people find it offensive because it purports to speak for nerd culture and represents it rather poorly.  Kinda like if a TV show contained a duo of black people whose shtick was that they stole stuff, except this isn’t nearly so bad as that because all the main characters on BBT are straight white men.  Besides, who would be stupid enough to put a pair of young black men defined only by their penchant for crime on national television?

Yeah, no rational organization in the day and age could possibly be that racially insensiti

[11:00 AMToday we’re going to spend the whole day traveling, so I’m bringing the Kyary Kids with me to hang out in Hokkaido! I felt bad for the girls because they’re still only elementary and middle schoolers but their summer break schedule is full with my tour and festivals, so I planned out a “summer vacation” for them. I hope they enjoy it.. Right now we’re on the bus. (top)

[11:40 AMOut and about. (´-`).。oO(I’m the only one who’s gotten their curry so far… (bottom)
